11th National Conference of African American Librarians

Updated: Dec 22, 2021

One of the proudest moments of my life will take place from July 28, 2021 - August 1, 2021. I will get to take the stage with my one and only 13-year-old daughter, Haelee as an Author and Business Owner at the 11th National Conference of African American Librarians.

The Cofounder of Literacy Nation, Director of F.O.R. Sto-Rox Library, and the Immediate President of the Black Caucus of the American Library Association, Richard Ashby placed our books in his libraries catalog. He also placed them in WorldCat. Doing so makes our books available in any library worldwide. But not only that, he chose us to be amongst a group of highly respected and qualified independent authors whom he is allowing to represent his non-profit and brand Literacy Nation at the conference.

We will have an opportunity to network with 500+ other attendees to include world renowned best selling authors (e.g. Micheal Eric Dyson, Jason Reynolds, etc), literacy directors, etc thus presenting an opportunity for increased discovery of what she and I are doing to better the world. That in itself may lead to increased sells/sales. But not only that we’ll receive a virtual experience of Black Wall Street live from Tulsa Oklahoma and so much more.

I’m so truly humbled that we were chosen for this tremendous opportunity because it shows that everything that we went through had a purpose. Thank you Literacy Nation for adopting us as members of your tribe and for trusting us with your platform.
