Asheboro Public Library
Updated: Jan 15, 2022
Me and my Dad are friends of Randolph County Library. We have family in Asheboro so we appreciate our friendship with them especially with Ms. Sam. Ms. Sam is the Head of Children’s Services. We hadn’t been able to meet her in person yet because of Covid though.
We had been telling her that we were going to pop in for a visit one day so we could meet her and everyone else but we hadn’t done it yet. Well we found out that her birthday was on Thursday, January 13th and we’re fully vaccinated so we decided to stop in for a surprise visit.
We got a library card, checked out books, laughed a lot, played with the 3D printers, found my book on the shelves, got some exciting news, and got plenty of hugs. My Dad laughed entirely too loud while reading one of the books in the children’s room. It was good to see him laugh because it’s been a tough week for him. I think that he even woke up a baby while laughing. He read The Saddest Toilet in the World on Instagram Live this afternoon. The book is really funny. You can watch the replay by going here.
We should’ve taken pictures with the birthday girl but we weren’t thinking about it because my Dad was so busy talking like always. I found a nice one of her anyway though. Anyway please make sure that y’all support your local libraries especially Randolph County’s because they care about diversity and their community. As for diversity, me and my Dad appreciate them and the opportunities that they afford us to collaborate with them because we are diverse people who write diverse books. You can learn more about how they support diverse books and authors by going here. As for their community, Randolph County Library got a local graphic artist named, Jamie Harris to design their logo. It evokes the Randolph County Government slogan of, “Serving with heart, from the heart of NC“ and supports the county’s tourism brand of being the heart of the state. Also all library card holders can request free passes to the NC Zoo through Randolph County Libraries. That's a savings of $15 per person. The NC Zoo is nestled on 2,600 wooded acres just outside of Asheboro. With 500 developed acres, it is the world's largest natural habitat zoo. You can learn more about the North Carolina Zoo by going here.
We have a few questions for you in closing:
What are your thoughts on diverse books and programs?
Will you be visiting Randolph County Public Libraries?
Do you have a library card?
Do you support local libraries?
Will you be visiting the NC Zoo?
