Forsyth County Local Author Fair

The Forsyth County Local Author Fair was held on March 19, 2022 from 1 PM - 4 PM at their Central Library Headquarter. My daughter, Haelee and I were among twenty local authors that they allowed to participate in the event. I’m so glad that they choose us because it was a grand joy for myself and others in attendance. I personally got to laugh, eat cookies, make new connections, and finally meet people face to face that I’ve long shared literary spaces with such as Chris Singleton, Britney Dent, and Salina Barksdale-Clark.

The true joy was meeting CJ and Landon Clark. I had the pleasure of playing video games, teasing, and playing the drums with CJ. My daughter, Haelee and I also got a chance to babysit him while his dad, Chris Singleton ran an errand. She told me that she wants to start babysitting now because kids are fun. As for Chris, he’s the author of Chris & Frankie Intro to Our Ebony and Ivory Keys. This delightful book teaches children, teenagers, and adults how to play the piano in a way that my music teachers never thought of before. I walked away not only memorizing the keys, but also knowing how to play Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star live at Chris and CJ’s table. Those of you that are interested in finding out more about Chris and Frankie can do so by going here.

As for Landon, I had a chance to do an impromptu interview with him regarding his second book, “Mommy If You Just Hold My Hand.” He partnered with his mother Salina Barksdale-Clark to pen it in an effort to give others hope. I walked away stunned at his degree of maturity, ability to get his message across, and wisdom given that he’s only 12 years old. I’m so thankful that his Salina trusted me enough to take him away for our conversation and interview. He’s an exceptional young man. Those of you that would like to support Landon’s goal of delivering hope to others can do so by purchasing a copy of his book here.

I say all of this to say that yesterdays event really wasn’t about sales, it was about family and making genuine connections. On that note, I can’t wait for the next event because I’m here for it all. I wish that I would’ve been mindful to have taken a picture with Landon too but it’s of no consequence because I recorded our conversation on IG Live. Those of you that missed the interview can watch the replay by going here. But not only that, but I’ll see him again soon given that the world is opening back up.

Thank you so much Lara and staff at Forsyth County Central Library for affording my daughter and I these opportunities in your literary space. It truly was the highlight of my week. Given that sentiment I’m not at all upset that my feet hurt 🤣
