I've been holding onto some exciting news for the past few months, and now it's time to share it with all of you. I delivered a speech titled "Joy Comes" at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina on February 22, 2023. In it, I opened up and shared my personal journey of growing up without my father. I spoke about the pain, anger, and confusion I experienced as a result. But I also shared how something beautiful emerged from those painful moments.
The response from attendees was overwhelming. Many were deeply moved by my transparency and the heartfelt message I shared. You can watch the replay by going here. At any rate, It was in that moment that I realized that I couldn't stop there. I felt a deep calling to turn my story into a book, a book that would inspire and uplift others who may have gone through similar experiences. And so, "Joy Comes: A Story of Fatherhood" was born. In this book, readers will meet Lamar, a character who undergoes a transformative journey much like my own. Lamar shows us how joy can emerge from even the darkest of pains. Through his story, I aim to offer a glimmer of hope to single parents and their children, reminding them that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Originally, I had planned a surprise release on Father's Day, June 18, 2023. However, out of respect for the significance of this day, I have decided to choose a different release date. But fear not, I will be sharing the official release date very soon. So, stay tuned for more updates! Together, let's embark on a journey of healing, hope, and the realization that joy truly does come, even in the face of adversity.
