National Storytelling Week

National Storytelling Week takes place annually during the first week of February. It's celebrated in daycares, schools, and clubs throughout the world. It's purpose is to encourage people of all ages, genders, and cultures to share stories new and old in a sense of community and togetherness. It's being celebrated from January 30 to February 6, 2023 this year. With that being the case, my good friend and fellow author, Kim C Lee came up with the crazy yet brilliant idea of crowdsourcing a story. She reached out to fellow authors such as Kathryn P. Carter, Shanequa Waison-Rattray, C. L. Holliday-Firmin, myself and some others on January 30, 2023 in hopes that we'd be willing to help her bring her plan to fruition.

We all had a good laugh as we took turns creating the character, BeeBo and developing his story throughout the entirety of the day. We never settled on exactly what BeeBo was but we agreed that he loves hugs and that he can fly. You can read this origin story by going here.

Kim says that she'd love for everyone that's reading this to crowdsource their own stories this week and we agree with her particularly with today being National Read Aloud Day. We'd all love to read them. On that note, we ask that you please tag us in them so that we can laugh along with you. You need only start with this simple phrase, "Once upon a time...."

Happy writing and storytelling.
