My Contribution to Black History Month
I do more than just write, publish, and format books. You see I also do full length professional reviews for authors as well. While I don’t discriminate, my preference is to limit my reviews to Black Authors and authors of color. The reason being is that Black, Hispanic, and Latino authors represent less than 10% of all authors according to a study by Zippia in 2022. You can read more about this by going here.
Given that sentiment, you can see that we’re a very small marginalized community. With that being the case, part of my contribution to Black History Month and Black History 365 is to do what I can to help Black and brown authors elevate their voice by using my reviews as a vessel for transmission. I always throw in a personal touch along with a bit of my silliness within. My hope is that my efforts encourage them to continue to fill in the gaps while simultaneously opening doors of opportunity for the younger generation.
Provided below are some of the books that have received 5 ⭐️’s ratings with a dose of my personal silliness. Here’s hoping that y’all shop with these authors and enjoy their works as much as I do. Oh yeah and don’t hesitate to reach out if you need a professional review. I don’t charge much.
